Building habits that last

How have you been doing with your exercise classes? Are you staying committed, are you getting in one class a day or at least one every other day?

Making exercise a priority is going to take some work especially if you're not a fan of exercise. It can be hard to build habits that last.

I get it, you make some small changes and you fail to see tangible results and now you might be considering stopping all together.

If you find yourself struggling to build an exercise habit it is not because you have lost your ability to improve. It's often because you haven't surpassed that plateau threshold yet that I call Your Potential. When you finally breakthrough this potential after making small steps towards it everyday then it's all worth it! You get to the point where you see and feel change in your body either physically or mentally or if your lucky both!

But deep down you know that it's all the work you did leading up to this moment - when it seemed you weren't making any progress - that makes the jump today possible.

It is the human equivalent of geological pressure. In the NBA a team called the San Antonio Spurs, one of the most successful teams in the league, have a great quote on their locker room wall. "When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet, at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that last blow that did it- but all that has gone before." (J.Clear Atomic Habits, 2018.)

All big things come from small beginnings, so don't delay getting started on your exercise habits because I would hate to know that improvement is just around the corner for you :)

We are in your corner so if you need help getting started or staying committed please reach out to info@boxing4health.com or call the office at (613) 224-2694. We are here for you.
